CBT Life is a new collaborative venture that my colleagues and I are embarking upon. The concept underpinning CBT LIfe is the notion that,
while a significant minority of the population may need individual cognitive behavioural therapy,
virtually everyone wants more from life than to be merely free from illness.
We all want to achieve happiness, to be productive and to be fulfilled.
To illustrate, when you go about your daily business, how often is there something on your mind
that you don’t feel quite happy about, that you would wish were satisfactorily resolved?
You may well feel the issue is not sufficiently severe to warrant seeking formal psychotherapy.

However, your personal quality of life may well be enhanced if such concerns were settled.
This is the domain of CBT Life. It is the straightforward proposition that CBT, the most rigorously empirically
tested approach to the treatment of psychological disorders, may also enhance the lives of people with non-clinical issues.
CBT Life may be utilised in both personal and business contexts, and may also be of assistance to people with relatives
or friends with clear psychological problems.
The methods that CBT Life utilises are based on standard CBT techniques.
A CBT Life course includes psycho-educational seminars - illustrating ways to enhance objective problem-solving skills -
and incorporates demonstrations of CBT techniques in action. However, while CBT Life does not include actual CBT treatment sessions,
some illustrative group discussions are employed.
